  • Comment: This is my first E-Reader. I am surprised at reading reviews about late shipping from Amazon from other customers as Amazon has never failed to deliver on time or even early for years. I was lucky enough then to receive my pre-order unit on time, and in perfect condition.

    The only minor issues I have is that I feel that the necessity of having Wi-Fi to use the Kindle at its fullest is not stressed enough in the overall description. I do not have Wi-Fi access at home and there are some things I cannot do with my Kindle (create categories, update the clock). But since I am able to load up books on my Kindle through my computer, I guess that's all that counts. Still, I feel it might have been stressed more in the description in order to avoid some of the frustration experienced by other reviewers.
    I would have also liked more cases available for pre-order and delivery at the same time the Kindle was. A nice hard case with a zipper is what I have in mind for mine, and I still don't see any available that I know for sure would fit my Kindle.
    All and all, I am satisfied with my Kindle and my eyes, fatigued from straining to read small paperback print are very grateful.

  • Comment: Well this is my 3rd Kindle and the physical product itself is wonderful. It's lighter, has a great screen with MUCH better contrast and the battery life is great as expected. The fact that the numbers on the keyboard are missing was a little bit of a drag but I'm used to using the top row along with pressing the ALT key to get the numbers and it works fine.

    I really like the new keys and the directional control is so much nicer. The buttons on both sides also makes for easy page turn regardless of which hand I'm holding it with. One quirk though is that when I carry it, I find myself hitting these buttons way too much and I have to be conscious about it otherwise I inadvertently turn the page. Not a big deal but it gets a little annoying when I forget about it.

    The ONE really big issue I have with the product is the software is incredibly buggy. I've had it completely lock up on me 3 times in the last 2 days and a handful of times last week. I assume an update might help this but clearly it wasn't tested as much as it should have been. If and when Amazon fixes this, it will get a full 5 stars from me.

    An otherwise great product hampered by buggy software that really should have been caught before launch.
